I do not see the photograph as seedy. It reminds me of several of Cavafy's poems, in which two beautiful boys, presumably naked, are kissing, or making love, in seedy surroundings to which they have been forced by societal prejudice. The boys kissing is the beauty of this photograph; the shabby surroundings are made less shabby by their presence, and the beauty of their affection.
